Edmonton's Food Bank salutes its volunteers - Presentation Transcript
Through the Kraft Hunger Challenge, Kraft Canada will match your monetary donation dollar-for-dollar (up to $150,000 across Canada) to Edmonton’s Food Bank between June 2 and 12.
“ Listen to your conscience: it will tell you how much to give.”
“ Remember that everyone you meet in this life has something to teach you.”
“ The biggest lesson we have to give our children is generosity.”
“ Care less for the harvest than for how many it can feed.”
All major grocery stores and City of Edmonton fire stations accept food donations for the food bank.
“ If giving is silver, then persistent giving is gold.”
Edmonton’s Food Bank was the first food bank in Canada, established in 1981.
“ Always keep your feet on the ground, in case someone needs to lean on you.”
“ Arrange whatever pieces come your way and share whatever picture you can make.”
“ What you put in, you take away.”
“ Money helps, but charity extends beyond finances.”
“ Endeavour to share others’ interests, not just your own.”
“ Take the feather out of your own cap to help someone else to fly.”
“ You can’t help everyone, but everyone can help someone.”
“ If only our impulse to give could match our impulse to possess.”
Edmonton’s Food Bank is currently providing food to approximately 11,000 people per month.
“ Being alive serves no purpose if one has nothing to give.”
“ Give freely even if you can’t give bountifully.”
“ Money is like ketchup; many people have more on their plate than they can possibly use.”
More than 30,000 volunteer hours were generously given in 2008.
“ Give one gift at a time and, before you know it, you’ve created a pile of treasures.”
“ What we give today determines the quality of tomorrow.”
“ Giving at the right moment is often more important than how much is given.”
“ Lend your support to those who can’t repay you.”
“ Feel for others by reaching into your pocket.”
“ Whatever you intend to give away – give a little bit more.”
In 2008, Edmonton’s Food Bank collected, sorted, re-packaged and redistributed over 3 million kilograms of food.
“ Close the gap between your generous intentions and your actions.”
Giving is true having.
Generosity is the highest form of courage.
“ The only way to learn about generosity is to start giving.”
