    • Finkelstein Memorial Library Proposed 2012-2013 Budget Public Hearing May 23, 2012
    • Proposed Increase is Less Than 2%• The Finkelstein Memorial Library Board of Trustees proposes a 2012-13 budget of $7.4 million.• This represents an increase from 2011-12 of $130,000 (less than 1.8%).• If the budget is approved, library taxes, the largest source of revenue to fund the budget, would increase from $6.7 million to $6.8 million (1.95%), or $6 per home in East Ramapo with a fair market value of $391,000. 2
    • Passage Insures Stable Operations• This year’s budget proposal preserves our overall hours of operation, enhances our collections, programs, and computer access, and makes modest investments in new technologies such as e-books.• The Library achieves these and other improvements by controlling expenses in a variety of areas including salaries, networking, and utilities. 3
    • A Vibrant Library: More Important Than Ever• Especially during these challenging economic times, Finkelstein Memorial Library is a critical resource for young and old who depend upon its support for everything from job hunting to health information, from homework help to tax return preparation, from homebound services to Internet access.• Finkelstein Memorial Library has truly become the community living room, a place where all are welcome, staffed by an outstanding group of professionals who care about, and take pride in, the diverse patron base we serve. 4
