FURTHER RISE IN TRUST IN INDONESIA WITH BUSINESS AS THE MOST TRUSTED INSTITUTION IN THE COUNTRY, SAYS THE 2014 EDELMAN TRUST BAROMETER THE LATEST RESULTS SEE A BIG RISE IN INDONESIAN TRUST IN NGOS THE COUNTRY REMAINS ONE OF THE MOST “TRUSTING“ NATIONS IN THE WORLD A RISE IN TRUST IN GOVERNMENT, BUT STILL BUSINESS AND THE MEDIA ARE THE MOST TRUSTED OF THE FOUR INSTITUTIONS RANKING GLOBALLY with an overall trust index average of 72% OUT OF THE 27 COUNTRIES SURVEYED THERE WAS ALSO A SURPRISE RISE IN TRUST IN GOVERNMENT +6% TO 53% 22% RISE IN THE LEVEL OF TRUST IN NGOS AMONGST INFORMED PUBLICS +22% TO 73% UP A TOTAL OF 6% FROM LAST YEAR. BUSINESS CLAIMED THE NUMBER ONE SPOT AS THE MOST TRUSTED INSTITUTION INDONESIANS TRUST PUBLICALLY TRADED COMPANIES THE MOST State-owned enterprises (SOEs) were the least trusted, with a trust score of 68% compared to 91% for publically traded companies. With 82% overall trust (the highest trust score for business in the world). ‘TRUST A GREAT DEAL’ SCORES FOR BUSINESS WERE, ON AVERAGE, MORE THAN TWICE THOSE FOR GOVERNMENT ACROSS ETHICS & TRUTH TELLING WHEN ASKED WHICH SPOKESPERSON THEY SAW AS THE MOST CREDIBLE, INDONESIANS LISTED ‘TECHNICAL EXPERTS‘, ‘ACADEMICS‘ AND ‘A PERSON LIKE YOURSELF‘. FOR BUSINESSES WANTING TO BUILD TRUST, SOCIAL ISSUES CONTINUED TO BE HIGH TRUST DRIVIERS, WITH ‘LISTENING TO CUSTOMERS’, ‘ACTING ETHICALLY‘, AND ‘LOOKING AFTER EMPLOYEES‘ RANKING AS THE HIGHEST TRUST BUILDING ATTRIBUTES. INDONESIANS LISTED ‘BUILDING INFRASTRUCTURE’ AS THE MOST IMPORTANT ROLE FOR GOVERNMENT IN BUSINESS.
