  • Reykjavík is the capital city and about 100.000 people live there.
  • There are about 130 volcanoes on Iceland but only few of them are active. Last eruption was 2010 in Eyjafjallajökull. Witch translates to islandmountainglacier. Now we are expecting two other volcanoes, Hekla or Katla. They are both much more powerful than Eyjafjallajökull and erupt with a few years in between, Hekla with 10 and Katla 100.

    • 3. The settling of Iceland Iceland was first settled in 874 by Ingólfur Arnason. He sent his two ravens out of his ship to find land and they would return when they found it. One came back. He put out his two high- seat pillars and he swore that he would live where they would come to shore. He cept his promise and named the place Reykjavík witch now is the capital.
