  • By asking ourselves these questions we will be able to form strategic responses which will enable us to develop operational plans that can then be extrapolated into the future to give us a common goal
  • In order to take Chiropractors into the next decade we need to gain an understanding of how the organisation currently operates and where we would like to be by the next decade. To begin this process we asked the General Council in Barcelona the following question – What status should Chiropractic in Europe have? The result is that we would like to be an autonomous profession that is integrated into the mainstream.
  • Do you agree with the above
  • The next question was “What kind or rights should Chiropractors have?” Access to public funding and referral rights were perceived to be the most important followed by limited prescription rights and Imaging rights
  • The last question was “What are the major areas that the Profession needs to focus on?” Need to demonstrate cost effectiveness, followed by strategic legislation and improved University relations

  • Vision 2020
Where do we want to be in 10 years time?
The purpose of the project is to formulate strategies to enable us to achieve our goals.
Initially we needed to identify where we are at present.
Therefore in Barcelona we asked the General Council the following questions:-
    • 10 YEARS FROM NOW WHAT STATUS SHOULD CHIROPRACTIC IN EUROPE HAVE?
    • WHAT KIND OF RIGHTS SHOULD CHIROPRACTORS HAVE?
    • WHAT ARE THE AREAS THE MAJOR AREAS THAT THE PROFESSION NEEDS TO FOCUS ON?
  • Why do this project?
This is not a process that is being done by “the few” it is intended to be a working document. With ownership by one and all.
We need to establish a clear Vision of where we are heading and establish clear goals which will benefit the Profession.
  • In Barcelona we asked the following
10 YEARS FROM NOW ‘WHAT STATUS SHOULD CHIROPRACTIC IN EUROPE HAVE’?
  • Independent healthcare profession that is integrated into the mainstream healthcare system in all countries in Europe whilst still preserving the Chiropractors identity.

Legislated and regulated in all European countries as experts for neuro muscular skeletal disorders.
    Fullfilling the quality measurements of
    Cost effectiveness
    Efficiency
    And appropriateness of treatments
  • WHAT KIND OF RIGHTS SHOULD CHIROPRACTORS HAVE?
    • Chiropractors should have access to public funding
    • Chiropractors should have referral rights
    • What rights should we aim for?
    • Chiropractors should have the right to take x-rays
    • Chiropractors should have limited (drug specific) prescription rights
    • What do you understand by this?
    • What are the major areas that the profession needs to focus on?
    • Need to demonstrate cost effectiveness
    • Strategic legislation
    • Education
  • What are the major areas that the Profession needs to focus on?
