  • 2. DEFINITION
    • Location is a position or point that occupies some of the Earth’s surface
    • Location is defined in two terms: absolute location and relative location

  • 3. ABSOLUTE LOCATION
    • Refers to the exact position of an object or place, measured within the spatial coordinates (latitude & longitude) of a grid system
    • Written using coordinates, such as:
    • 10.6°N, 71.55°W
    • Lake Maracaibo of Venezuela

  • 4. RELATIVE LOCATION
    • Refers to the location of one place in relation to its surroundings
    • Written using words, such as:
    • China is in the northeastern hemisphere, south of Mongolia, West of the East China Sea, East of Kazakhstan, and North of Myanmar

    • Describe the location of these places using relative location:
      • China
      • Singapore
      • Vietnam
    • Describe the location of these places using absolute location:
      • New Zealand
      • England
