2. Our Name:
The “mission” in our name is to train student’s to reach out to “the least of these” from the
parable in Matthew 25 while on their educational journey.
Mission:
Help students grow in their relationship with Christ, enhance student learning and create
enduring understanding through challenging and engaging curriculum focused on the
multiple intelligences and different learning styles.
Purpose:
Mission Journey strives to enrich student’s lives by cultivating a Christ like compassion
and love for those in need throughout our community, country and our world.

3. Admissions
o Global Mission Academy is a private institution open to students in kindergarten through 6th
grade. We are a school of faith based learning and all curriculum will have instruction grounded
in biblical conviction.
o Our curriculum focus is bible, math, reading & language arts, social studies, science, art, music
and physical education. We strive to cultivate student’s love for the Lord and knowledge of
scripture through their daily subjects.
o We believe having a small student to teacher
ratio is important for student success.

You do not have to claim a statement of faith, but our
curriculum infused throughout with biblical principles and
students are required to participate in bible class.

weekly community involvement, missions work and

supplies needed for projects and daily assignments.

date technology and resources in order to provide the best education
for our students.

Homework:
Students receive nightly homework. Teachers are asked
to require no more than .5 hours of homework a night
for K-3rd grade and no more than 1 hour for 4th-6th
grade students.
Assignments will vary in subject and may include
family or parent activities or conversations.
We want to keep parents as involved in their students
education as possible, but allow for family time as well.
Service Projects
Friday afternoons will be spent
on service projects and
community involvement. This
will include clean-up projects,
convalescent home visits and
food drives among other
things.

9. School Focus
Missions work and reaching out to those less fortunate is our school focus and
will be woven into all aspects of our curriculum!
Home
Students will participate in monthly and
sometimes weekly service projects within
and around our community and
neighborhoods. Our goal as a faculty is to
foster a love for Christ in our students.
Through that we hope they become citizens
who make a difference in their own
communities and learn to reach out to others
who are less fortunate with the love of Christ
Jesus. In Matthew 25:40 it says, “The King
will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did
for one of the least of these brothers and
sisters of mine, you did for me.” This is the
heartbeat of our mission. We want to
students to leave our school educated and
with a heart for service.
The 6th grade class will spend
one week in San Francisco
during their final semester
working in soup kitchens, at
the food bank and sharing the
gospel along with staff from
our school.
We will integrate missions into many
aspects of our curriculum including
reading assignments and social studies
work that help students grow in their
global knowledge and the need to share
the gospel at home as well as around
the world.
10. Curriculum
Core Subjects
Bridges Math and Houghton-Mifflin for reading
and language arts for all grades. Students will use
Bob Jones science textbooks. Our staff has also
created many of their own lesson plans that are
taught from a biblical perspective and incorporate
several subjects.

Our bible teacher
will start the year
off covering the
missionary
journeys of Paul
and work to help
students truly
understand the
gospel and a
Christian’s
responsibility to
share the good
news.
Physical Education
PE is twice a week and covers all
state standards per grade, but
includes many fun team building
activities as well.
Music and
Art class are
once a week in
each grade.
Assessments
Baseline assessments will be given at the
beginning of the year. That information will
be used to create groups based on the needs
of students. Progress monitoring will be done
monthly and students may change groups
depending on their personal results each
month. The goal is to keep students in their
zone of proximal development, challenged
but not overwhelmed.
The goal of all our curriculum is to help
students grow in the knowledge of Christ,
their core subjects and the arts. We strive
to address each learning style within all
lessons and use knowledge of the multiple
intelligences in order to help students
reach their full potential. Every child is
unique and learns in different ways,
therefore, we believe it is critical to
educate using a variation in teaching
methods.

11. Reaching the Community for
Christ!
Home
The community has accepted the opening
of a new school in this area because we
have formed strong relationships and
given just reason for why this school is
going to improve the community.
The people in this area are looking
forward to the support from our school,
partnership and relationships with our staff
and students and positive growth in the
neighborhood.
Our goal is to follow through on the plans
we have presented to help the people and
area around the new school, as well as
pave the way for future schools in fellow
communities.
The Forestbrook community includes
two assisted living communities we
have established relationships with
and students will help with gardening
and special events at.
The city food bank is located a mile
from our school and will provide
many ways for students to serve and
be involved. There is also a family
shelter about 5 miles away that we
will assist. Students will not work
there, but may help collect donations
or organize events to help raise
support.
There are many MANY other places
and people we will help throughout
the school year as well.

I am so excited to be a part of Mission Journey School
becoming a reality! I have spent the past twelve years
in the world of education and my prayer is to learn and
grow even further through this school and all we hope
to accomplish!
I grew up in a small rural town in the middle of
Oregon. I attended kindergarten at a church school
before being home schooled from 1st until 9th grade
when I attended public high school. I knew I wanted to
be a teacher during my junior year of high school. I
have worked in public, private and charter schools and
I hope to combine the positives of each of those types
of education in our school.
I have traveled to many countries doing missions work
as well as many mission trips and outreach
opportunities within our country and my community. I
prayer that through the missions focus of our school
children will learn to see people through the eyes of
Jesus and becoming loving and compassionate
followers of Christ.
I look forward to getting to know each of our students
