    eg. “I am always doing favours for Rick and he never does anything for me. I wish our relationship had more reciprocity.”

    Relationships help make you a more complete person
    From our relationships we get:
    feedback on our actions and ideas
    we do good things and bad things
    other people let us know

    encouragement to try new things
    we fear what is different / new
    other people help us get over this fear
  • 9. Why are they important?
    From our relationships we get:
    support when we have difficulties
    hard times make us sad
    other people help us through the sadness

    From our relationships we get:
    acceptance for who we are
    humans need to feel liked and wanted
    we get this from other people
  • 11. Why are they important?
    From our relationships we get:
    the opportunity to provide all these things for others
    it feels good to help people
    in a relationship, we can!

    rapport
    the feeling of comfort we have with (some) other people
    “those two kids have a good rapport with eachother”
    respect
    accepting another persons feelings / opinions, if you feel the same, or even if you feel differently

    commitment
    a desire / want to spend time and energy to keep the relationship alive
    compromise
    give up something important to keep the relationship healthy and achieve relationship goals
