  • Everyone in the classroom knows about Ebay. It appears everywhere on the internet and even has comercials on T.V. It has taken Ebay more than a decade to become a household name, but due to the work of a very intellegent programmer, Ebay has become a internet dot com legacy.

  • Ebay has a presence in 33 different global markets, spanning the globe Listed as the top commerce web site in the UK Every second $1,511 worth of goods are traded Ebay developed a software called Turbo Lister which allows for the creation of many listings at once, idea for professional sellers.   • There was once a human kidney up for auction, but because it is illegal to profit from the sale of human organs, the auction was shut down
  • Feedback system is where customers can post comments about their transactions. These comments can help determine the validity of the sellers claims Ebay does take steps towards making sure customers are not scammed. There are credit checks on customers and ebay even offers escrow services
  • Developed in 2000 to allow third party software applications to run through ebay. Ebay developers can use this innovation to build up their resources and to offer better customers service, sales, and support. The program allows for the use of most programming languages. They provide XML and SOAP based APIs This is the latest step Ebay has taken towards creating the worlds largest online market place. Ebay is moving from client to client to more of a Business to Client market. This allows eBay to become more of a giant mall with individual stores within it.
