  2. 2. eBiz Buzz 1. Aussie Wholesale Suppliers Guide Updates The latest updates to the Aussie Wholesale Suppliers Guide have just been released. Over 50 new wholesalers have been included in the guide, bringing the total now to over 750. Most categories have seen new suppliers added, with some of the larger additions being in the Clothing, Computers & Home Electronics sections. A brand new category has also been added for ‘Pet Supplies’ – there are now over 20 pet products wholesalers in the guide! If you have purchased a copy of the guide in the past, but haven’t received the update email, just let me know & I’ll send the link through. 2. eBay Scraps Negative Feedback for Sellers As from May this year eBay sellers will no longer be able to leave negative feedback for a buyer. This is part of quite a few changes eBay is making to the feedback system to try & improve it. Personally I don’t agree with it – it doesn’t seem fair that buyers can leave negative feedback but sellers can’t – eBay has introduced some other rules to ‘try & protect sellers’ with this new change, but I don’t think they’ll be enough. 3. 3. How to Create an eBay Auction Listing For Maximum Profits Not all auctions are created equal! Why is it that some auction sellers seem to be able to consistently get a final auction price 10% to 20% higher than everyone else? Now 10% may not seem like much, but let’s put it into perspective. If you sold 100 units a week at $10, while everyone else is only getting $9, then you have $100 more profit a week than your nearest competitor. The more expensive the item you’re selling, the bigger the profits – 100 units a week at $100 instead of $90 gives you $1,000 more in your pocket each week. Pretty quickly, those small increases start to add up to a pretty substantial amount of money! It definitely isn’t just down to good luck. It goes deeper than that...there’s something in their auction listing that makes buyers want to reach deeper into their pockets to buy their particular item over anyone else’s. So how do they do it? · High Traffic Volume – The more people who can find your listing, the larger the pool of potential bidders you have. This can be done by effective keyword use, the choice of the correct category, & the use of other online/offline promotion. Admittedly if your auction listing is diabolical, it won’t matter how much traffic you drive to it, you’ll still end up getting 50% less than everyone elseJ. · A Clear, Detailed Description of the Item – By providing all the information in the listing that 99% of potential buyers would want to know, you are enabling them to make the buying decision straight away. If a potential buyer needs to ask you questions by the time you’ve answered their query, they may well have had second thoughts on it, or have purchased another similar item. · Include Postage Prices in Listing – Buyers tend to be lazy. For every one person who asks you how much postage is, there’s probably at least another 5 who would have liked to have known but couldn’t be bothered asking, so purchased a competitor’s product (who had postage prices listed). Not listing postage prices does cost you money! · Accepting PayPal – Yes, PayPal charges fees on money you receive, but what you need to remember is that PayPal is a very quick, easy way for your buyers to pay you. 4. 4. You’ll also find that many buyers regard money sitting in their PayPal account almost like play/pretend money – they can’t be bothered withdrawing it to their bank account – so even though they are paying you real money, they don’t feel like they are (it doesn’t show up on the bank statement). If your product ‘isn’t going to cost them anything’, then you’ll find more buyers! · Keeping Feedback Positive – If your feedback has dropped below 98%, firstly I would take a serious look at what part of your sales process is failing & work out what could be done to improve it. Secondly, I’d be starting a new eBay account with a new eBay ID. If your feedback drops much below 98%, it will start to cost you in lost sales. Issue #001 eBiz Tips Newsletter
  5. 5. 5 Lesser Known Ways to Earn Money Online 1. Install Scripts – Scripts are installed on website servers to create special features on the site – forums, tracking cookies, classifieds, personal messaging, & much more. Many people don’t know how, or can’t be bothered doing this. The average basic script installation will take 10 to 20 minutes, & can earn you anywhere between $10 & $30. 2. Write Articles – 300 to 500 word articles are very useful when it comes to website promotion, & webmasters are always looking for quality, unique articles to add to their sites. You can sign up for free at sites like RentACoder (www.rentacoder.com), Guru (www.guru.com) or Elance (www.elance.com) & bid on work offers placed by website owners around the world. 3. Create a Blog – The secret to having a successful, profitable blog is to keep it regularly updated (every couple of days) with good quality content that people are interested in. You can then monetize the blog by signing up for affiliate programs related to your topic, place Adsense ads on the blog, sell advertising space, or even just have a ‘donation jar’ where people who like the information you provide can send you a donation through PayPal. You can create your own blog for free at places like Blogger (www.blogger.com). 4. Buying & Reselling On eBay – How often do you see a poorly listed, or even misspelt item listed on eBay that goes for a mere fraction of it’s value? Through careful research there’s money to be made by finding these listings, buying them, then relisting them properly. This can also be done by purchasing items on some of the lesser known online auction sites (where even good listings can go for bargain prices), & then reselling on eBay. 5. Sell Photos – There are literally hundreds, if not thousands of stock photo sites on the net, where once you’re a member you can upload photos you take to their site. People who are looking for photos for whatever reason – websites, graphic design, logos etc. - then browse through the site & purchase any photos they want. You earn a percentage of what they paid for the photo. One of the larger sites is iStockPhoto (www. istockphoto.com), but a quick search on Google will bring up hundreds more. 6. 6. Internet Resource of the Month My Store Rewards Many traditional offline stores & businesses have rewards programs, so why not have one for your eBay store or website? Rewards programs are great for increasing sales & growing profits, & My Store Rewards have set up a great program that allows you to do this easily for just a small monthly fee. Why spend all your time chasing new customers, when you can encourage your existing customers to keep shopping with you with store rewards. How does it work? You can choose how much of a rebate you want to give your customers on each purchase. For example, you might decide on a 2% rebate. If a customer spends $50 with you & pays via PayPal, they will receive a $1 rebate/credit to their PayPal account that they can use on future purchases with you. They also offer a 30 Day Free Trial, so visit them at www.mystorerewards.com to find out more about how it can benefit your business.
