  • This session will provide an introduction to Encore, showcase methods of better serving patrons even in the absence of a librarian, and illustrate how metadata from the ILS & MARC records can come together with other technology & services to improve satisfaction & use of resources. We'll look at how online interfaces can provide a form of "reference interview" where good design and ambient findability can steer users toward the answers they seek. Also covered will be ways librarians can improve their metadata and system configuration to improve the user experience and resolve issues. If time permits there will be group discussion on collecting & using patron feedback and on conducting usability studies.
