  • In 2009-2010 someone finally said ok enough is enough, its not about quanity, its able quality. This is also where you see the panda update.
  • Having quality information on your site and spoon feeding it to consumers through different channels
  • It’s like math, it builds on itself. Even though some of these tactics are obsolete, many of them remain. It’s more of a building process than a replacing
  • I did not even mention monitoring- as an agency we need to provide proof of all this data to our clients, and as an in-house you need to give this to whomever you are accountable to
  • So what is the time constrained, resource strapped SEO to do?
  • So this is where we begin to use tools. You wouldn’t believe how long it took my to build this toolkit on the right…it was a true test of my spacial abilities.
  • First and foremost, OSE I use this on a daily basis and would be lost without it.
  • You can do link research as well.Link management- track link requests and see when they go liveMonitor your keyword rankings in the serps
  • No brainer, beyond just sheer traffic reporting, it allows you to understand conversion data. Are our keywords sending traffic that makes us money? I can optimize and rank all day long for “taco flavored kisses”, but it doesn’t mean that the people who find me through that word will convert to paying customers.
  • Campaign monitoring :Monitor for specific mentions of your brand or keywordsTop level social metrics: Things like Follower growth, top followers, most influential mentions,
  • Where as hootsuite is very top level data, export.ly allows you to search social profiles and gets extremely granular in the dataFacebook:Fan activity over time, engagement by type of posts (status, links, photos, videos), top posts by number of comments, top commenters, top commenters by number of likes. Twitter: top time zones (know when to post for max engagement), Most followed users, Most active usersReally allows for structure in your social outreach
  • So export.ly allows you to search through profiles, but what if you don’t know everyone who you compete against? Rowfeeder allow you to monitor instances of a particular keyword. Where people talking about kitchen design are most active, see who are the most followed users, Learn the top keyword associated with kitchen design, and the potenail impressions by psoter.
  • Search through twitter bios by tweets, friends, followers, days old and even has a proprietary “wonk score”
  • Bookmarklet that allows you, within the browser to find an email address on a page, choose from message templates that you have preconstrcuted, tweek the message, and monitor status of emails

  • Citations are the “links” of local search. Anytime that your busines name address and phone number is listed. Whitespark allows you to enter the numbrer and find mentoins and allows you to see what is already aout there and are there any incorrect listings and clean up the information. You can allos pull in informaoitn for compeittors to see where they have citatoins that you don’t and you can get them Consistency accuracy and quanityt builds authority
  • Oh yeah, did I mention that you can export all of the info from these tools to excel and use it to come up with some really amazing data.
