Bio for Kirsti A. Dyer MD, MS
Dr. Dyer is an Internal Medicine physician, a health educator, a professor, a college nutrition instructor and the mother to two young children.
As a Certified Wellness Specialist she is interested in health and wellness education.
Dr. Dyer is a volunteer parent at her daughters’ elementary school, a member of the Alliance for a Healthier Generation & a former participating parent at Summerville Parent Nursery School.

What is We’re All Winners?
"We're All Winners" is a non-race fitness & fun event developed as an educational activity so young children can:

Enjoy and have fun being physically active
Participate in a non-racing, solo running activity
Experience the elation of winning

Purpose of We’re All Winners
The purpose of "Winners" is to educate children, parents and teachers about:
Benefits of being physical active
Good nutrition & healthy eating habits
Outdoor Sun Safety Tips

Focus of We’re All Winners
On Winner’s Day children participate in a variety of activities that
Promote being physically active
Build their self-esteem
Improve learning skills
Encourage good sportsmanship & patience
Model healthy eating
Teach sun safety

Basics of We’re All Winners - 1
The following were included in the activity.
Each child gets to run the activity course solo--by him or herself.
Each child starts at the starting line with a "Ready-Set-Go" and then the whistle blows to start a race.
Each child gets to cross the finish line and break the finish line ribbon alone.

Basics of We’re All Winners - 2
After the running part is over...
Children participate in other activities.
Each child is presented with a #1 Winner medal by the teacher as part of the Winners ceremony.
Each child is presented with a Winner bag filled with healthy prizes and nutritious fruit and/or nuts.

Winner Bag Contents
Each child gets a Winner's bag filled with:
I'm a Winner Pencil
Winner Stickers (From the Dollar Store)
Sun screen
Lip Balm
Health Food Snacks - fruit leather, nuts, raisins, prunes
Assorted Kid Toys
Other health promotion items - visors, sunglasses etc.

Goals of We’re All Winners
The main goal of the event is to create an environment in which each child gets to feel special, like a winner.
Each child goes home feeling and believing for at least one day that
"I'm a Winner!"
This is the message that we want children to internalize & believe about themselves.

Feeling Like a Winner
Each child gets to run a “race” course by themselves and break the ribbon at the finish line to experience "winning.“
There is no competition.
For at least one day, each child gets to be active, be in a group event and end feeling like a winner.

Experiencing We’re All Winners
This non-race fitness and fun day event was designed so that each child has the chance to experience:
The joy of participation
The elation of running--just for the fun of it
The excitement of feeling like a winner and winning a medal.

Parents’ Child is a Winner!
