Proverbs 20:14 It is naught, it is naught, saith the buyer:
but when he is gone his way, then he boasteth.
Be wary; a wheeler-dealer is not always honest.
When he’s buying, he puts down the product.
When he’s selling, he builds it up.
He is a cheat.

15 There is gold, and a multitude of rubies: but the
lips of knowledge are a precious jewel.
There is nothing on earth as valuable as
genuine knowledge of God.
I’m talking about an intimate relationship with the
True and living God.
“Lips of knowledge”
indicates that he
teaches the know-
ledge of God.

16 Take his garment that is surety for a stranger: and
take a pledge of him for a strange woman.
(NIV) 16 Take the garment of one who puts up
security for a stranger; hold it in pledge if he does
it for a wayward woman.
Get collateral for loans to strangers, especially
if they are of questionable character. DVT

17 Bread of deceit is sweet to a man; but afterwards
his mouth shall be filled with gravel.
Wealth gotten by fraud may be sweet, for the
carnal mind takes pleasure in the success of wicked
devices; but it will be bitter in the reflection.

This is true for all sin; there is pleasure in sin
for a season, but it is short-lived and turns to
unpleasant memories.

18 Every purpose is established by counsel: and
with good advice make war.
Especially in spiritual matters
and spiritual warfare,
seek the counsel of wise men.
Heed not the counsel of sinners or
backsliders; they believe not Truth!

19 He that goeth about as a talebearer revealeth
secrets: therefore meddle not with him that
flattereth with his lips.
He may say pretty things to your face,
But he speaks ill to your back..
This is saying that a gossip and a flatterer
are often the same person.

20 Whoso curseth his father or his mother, his lamp
shall be put out in obscure darkness.
In the Old Testament a person who cursed his
parents violated the fifth commandment and
committed a capital offense. Death was the penalty
for cursing (and rebelling against) parents. To have
one’s lamp... snuffed out was a picturesque way of
referring to death

mother, shall surely be put to death.
Exodus 21 15 And he that smiteth his father, or his
mother, shall be surely put to death.

rebellious son, which will not obey the voice of his
father, or the voice of his mother, and that, when
they have chastened him, will not hearken unto

him, and bring him out unto the elders of his city,
and unto the gate of his place; 20 And they shall say
unto the elders of his city, This our son is stubborn
and rebellious, he will not obey our voice; he is a
glutton, and a drunkard. 21 And all the men of his
city shall stone him with stones, that he die: so
shalt thou put evil away from among you; and all
Israel shall hear, and fear.

Our culture has come to believe that a simple
spanking is mistreating children.
The devil wants people to believe that,
because it makes it easier for him to
corrupt our children.
If we don’t raise our children to know God,
to love His Ways, to go to church, and
worship the True God,
They will fall into sin; the devil will
capture their minds.
