Acts 15:32 And Judas and Silas, being prophets alsothemselves, exhorted (to call near; comfort) thebrethren with many words, and confirmed (strengthen;support further; reestablish) them*. 33 And after they hadtarried there a space, they were let go in peace fromthe brethren unto the apostles. 34 Notwithstanding itpleased Silas to abide there still. I can imagine that they needed comfort and support after all the controversy. Judas went home to Jerusalem, but Silas stayed in Antioch. 3
  4. 4. The church must never leave the wounded on the battlefield. Carry them, if need be.1 Thessalonians 5 4 Now weexhort you, brethren, warnthem that are unruly, comfortthe feebleminded (fainthearted),support the weak, be patienttoward all men. 4
  5. 5. When anyone in the church has been wounded, we need to encourage and comfort that one.We need to support and help them be established.Fallen into sin Falsely accused AttackedAs Judas and Silas did, help them get their foot on the Rock and their mind made up. 5
  6. 6. 35 Paulalso and Barnabas continued in Antioch,teaching and preaching the Word of the Lord, withmany others also. 36 And some days after, Paul saidunto Barnabas, Let us go again and visit ourbrethren in every city where we have preached theWord of the Lord, and see how they do.They had been back home a few months from their first journey. Now Paul is concerned for the young Christians and new churches. 6
  7. 7. 37 And Barnabas determined totake with them John, whosesurname was Mark. 38 But Paulthought not good to take him withthem, who departed from themfrom Pamphylia, and went notwith them to the work.Acts 13 13 Now when Paul and his company loosedfrom Paphos, they came to Perga in Pamphylia: andJohn departing from them returned to Jerusalem. 7

  9. 9. Paul was not willing to depend on him again. Barnabas wanted to give his nephew another chance.The Bible doesnt say if one was right and the other wrong. God used even this quarrel to accomplish His Will. 9
  10. 10. 39 And the contention was sosharp between them, that theydeparted asunder one from theother: and so Barnabas tookMark, and sailed unto Cyprus;40 And Paul chose Silas, and Two missionarydeparted, being recommended journeysby the brethren unto the graceof God. 41 And he went throughSyria and Cilicia, confirmingthe churches. 10
