Probably her house was aprincipal meeting place of the church, so it must havebeen spacious. … This same Mark is considered to bethe writer of the Gospel bearing his name The Bible Knowledge Commentary: An Exposition of the Scriptures by Dallas Seminary Faculty. 3
  4. 4. 13 And as Peter knocked atthe door of the gate, adamsel came to hearken, named Rhoda. 14 Andwhen she knew Petersvoice, she opened not thegate for gladness, but ranin, and told how Peterstood before the gate. 4
  5. 5. 15 And they said unto her,Thou art mad. But sheconstantly affirmed thatit was even so. Then saidthey, It is his angel.16 But Peter continuedknocking: and when they They were praying, buthad opened the door, and were astonished whensaw him, they were the answer came.astonished. Did they have great faith? 5
  6. 6. 17 But he, beckoning unto them with the hand tohold their peace, declared unto them how the Lordhad brought him out of the prison. And he said, Goshew these things unto James (Jesus brother), andto the brethren. And he departed, and went intoanother place. 6
  7. 7. 18 Now as soon as it was day, there was no smallstir among the soldiers, what was become of Peter.19a And when Herod had sought for him, and foundhim not, he examined the keepers, and commandedthat they should be put to death. 7
  8. 8. 19b And he (Herod) went down from Judaea toCaesarea, and there abode. 20 And Herod washighly displeased with them of Tyre and Sidon: butthey came with one accord to him, and, havingmade Blastus the kings chamberlain their friend, desired peace; because their country was nourishedby the kings country. 8
  9. 9. 21 And upon a set day Herod, arrayed in royalapparel, sat upon his throne, and made an orationunto them. 22 And the people gave ashout, saying, It is the voice of a god, and not of aman. 23 And immediately the angel of the Lordsmote him, because he gave not God the glory: andhe was eaten of worms, and gave up the ghost. Herod accepted their praise as a god. Big mistake! 9
  10. 10. 24 But the Word of God grew and multiplied. When the devil thinks hes winning, He is fixing to suffer another loss. Herod was the devils faithful servant, But he died vicious death at the Hand of God. 10
  11. 11. 25 And Barnabas and Saulreturned from Jerusalem, when they had fulfilledtheir ministry, and tookwith them John, whosesurname was Mark.John Mark was young, and grew up privileged in a wealthy home; He was unprepared for the hardships of ministry. 11
  12. 12. Acts 15 36 And some days after Paul said untoBarnabas, Let us go again and visit our brethren inevery city where we have preached the Word of theLord, and see how they do. 37 And Barnabas deter-mined to take with them John, whose surname wasMark. 38 But Paul thought not good to take him withthem, who departed from them from Pamphylia, andwent not with them to the work. 39 And the contentionwas so sharp between them, that they departed asunderone from the other: and so Barnabas took Mark, andsailed unto Cyprus; 40 And Paul chose Silas, anddeparted, being recommended by the brethren unto thegrace of God. 12
