  1. 1. 1Gospel Baptist Tabernacle781 Salem Road, Rossville, GA 30741Where the Love of Godabounds, everyone iswelcome.Children’s Church taughtby Paul and Marsha Davisduring preaching.www.rossvillechurch.comJune 2, 2013
  2. 2. 2David’s son Amnon lustedafter his sister Tamar. He raped her. When it was over, he viciously told her to get out. After he had what he wanted, he hated her.His guilt turned his feelings to hatred.
  3. 3. 32 Samuel 13:16 And she said unto him, There is nocause: this evil in sending me away is greater thanthe other that thou didst unto me. But he would nothearken unto her. 17 Then he called his servant thatministered unto him, and said, Put now this womanout from me, and bolt the door after her. There was no love in Amnon’s heart; only lust.He was obsessed with desire for her. That lust turned into hatred.
  4. 4. 418 And she had a garment ofdivers colors upon her: for withsuch robes were the kingsdaughters that were virginsappareled. Then his servantbrought her out, and bolted thedoor after her. 19 And Tamar putashes on her head, and rent (tore)her garment of divers colors thatwas on her, and laid her hand onher head, and went on crying.
  5. 5. 520 And Absalom her brother saidunto her, Hath Amnon thybrother been with thee? but holdnow thy peace, my sister: he isthy brother; regard not this thing. So Tamar remained desolate inher brother Absaloms house.Absalom wanted to keep it quiet. He wasn’t worried about Tamar’s feelings. He would seek his own vengeance.
  6. 6. 621 But when king David heardof all these things, he wasvery wroth. But he did nothing! He loved hischildren, but hewould not disciplinethem. He loved the Lord, but he would not bringhimself to obey the Law in this.He let it fester and get worse.
  7. 7. 722 And Absalom spake untohis brother Amnon neithergood nor bad: for Absalomhated Amnon, because hehad forced his sister Tamar.
  8. 8. 823 And it came to pass after two full years, thatAbsalom had sheepshearers in Baalhazor, which isbeside Ephraim: and Absalom invited all the kingssons.
  9. 9. 924 And Absalom came to the king, and said, Beholdnow, thy servant hath sheepshearers; let the king, Ibeseech thee, and his servants go with thy servant.25 And the king said to Absalom, Nay, my son, letus not all now go, lest we be chargeable unto thee. And he pressed him: howbeit he would not go, butblessed him.David felt it was too expensive for Absalom tothrow a party for the king and all his sons.
  10. 10. 1026 Then said Absalom, If not, Ipray thee, let my brotherAmnon go with us. And theking said unto him, Whyshould he go with thee? 27 ButAbsalom pressed him, that helet Amnon and all the kingssons go with him.David knew aboutthe rape and theenmity betweenAbsalom andAmnon.
  11. 11. 1128 Now Absalom had commandedhis servants, saying, Mark ye nowwhen Amnons heart is merrywith wine, and when I say untoyou, Smite Amnon; then killhim, fear not: have not Icommanded you? becourageous, and be valiant. 29And the servants of Absalom didunto Amnon as Absalom hadcommanded. Then all the kingssons arose, and every man gathim up upon his mule, and fled.
  12. 12. 1230 And it came to pass, while they were in theway, that tidings came to David, saying, Absalomhath slain all the kings sons, and there is not one ofthem left. 31 Then the king arose, and tare hisgarments, and lay on the earth; and all his servantsstood by with their clothes rent. 32 And Jonadab, theson of Shimeah Davids brother, answered andsaid, Let not my lord suppose that they have slainall the young men the kings sons; for Amnon onlyis dead: for by the appointment of Absalom thishath been determined from the day that he forcedhis sister Tamar.
  13. 13. 1333 Now therefore let not my lord the king take thething to his heart, to think that all the kings sonsare dead: for Amnon only is dead. 34 But Absalomfled. And the young man that kept the watch liftedup his eyes, and looked, and, behold, there camemuch people by the way of the hill side behindhim. 35 And Jonadab said unto the king, Behold, thekings sons come: as thy servant said, so it is.36 And it came to pass, as soon as he had made anend of speaking, that, behold, the kings sonscame, and lifted up their voice and wept: and theking also and all his servants wept very sore.
  14. 14. 1437 But Absalom fled, and went to Talmai, the son ofAmmihud, king of Geshur. And David mourned forhis son every day. 38 So Absalom fled, and went toGeshur, and was there three years. 39 And the soulof King David longed to go forth unto Absalom:for he was comforted concerning Amnon, seeing hewas dead. What a mess!King David’s family was not at all whatGod intended family to be.Sin is to blame for it all.
  15. 15. 15Psalm 128 (TLB) 1 Blessings on all who reverenceand trust the Lord -- on all who obey Him! 2 Theirreward shall be prosperity and happiness. 3 Yourwife shall be contented in your home. And look atall those children! There they sit around the dinnertable as vigorous and healthy as young olive trees.4 That is God’s reward to those who reverence andtrust Him.We have seen that David’s home wastroubled all the time.He brought it on himself. This is God’s Plan!
