Feeding the hungry

 1. 1. Feeding the Hungry By: Ashley Dubay
 2. 2. Missions and Values

Our mission is to feed America's hungry through a nationwide network of member food banks and engage our country in the fight to end hunger.

We respect the inherent worth and dignity of every person and treat all with justice, equity and compassion. We honor the lives, concerns and stories of people in need and expect our partners to do the same. We accept one another and encourage diversity of thoughts and ideas.

 3. 3. Community needs

Although America is the wealthiest nation in the world millions of children are food insecure .For 1 in 6 Americans suffer from hunger. Millions of Americans are struggling with hunger. Child hunger decreases the ability to learn and become more likely to suffer from poverty as an adult. These are some needs of the community:

Nutritious, fresh foods

Emergency assistance for disaster victims

Shelter homes, blankets and clothing

Vocational training or maybe even jobs

http://feedingamerica.org/

 4. 4. programs

The Mobile Pantry program allows food banks to engage in a much larger circle of groups in supplying food for the needy. Therefore increasing the number of people served and extending service into regions. Shuttle Worth Foundation would be a great foundation to help us because they look forward to fund individuals who are trying to make the world a better place. Therefore they can help these poor children and in return they can help make the world a better place by learning and becoming successful.

Kids Café is another program that serves meals to kids at risk of hunger. They supplement the meal service with enrichment activities.

 5. 5. How you can get involved?

You can start by looking into our website and program and help by volunteering. http://feedingamerica.org/

Once you become interested you can help by donating and becoming more involved with the children and families.

You can donate online, give monthly and even help with food drives.

 6. 6. Goals

We want to accomplish our goals by help feeding every single child that is suffering from hunger. We need to stop being unscrupulous and start being more aware of what else is out there in the world and how can we help.

We want them to be clean and healthy.

We want them to be safe.

We want them to get all the care and attention they need.

 7. 7. Personal connection

A personal connection I feel I had with this organization is I’ve been to many poverty places many times. One of the places I've been to and have seen the worst is East L.A. Many people look like they are in the worst conditions ever and just about ready to give up hope. It’s sad to see little kids suffer from hunger and it breaks my heart to see them fighting for their lives every day. I feel like we can make a difference in these peoples lives and only lord knows how much they would truly appreciate it.

 8. 8. Inputs

We need the following:

volunteers

Money

Donate food, clothing, tooth brushes etc.

Flu shots, T-dap shots and medicine

First aid supplies

These would be very helpful donations and we would really appreciate everyone’s help.
