  • Web Services-- Great b/c standardised non-proprietary format for exchange messages between different technologies-- Complexity because of so many dependenciesHub & Spoke-- Decreased dependencies, less complexity-- Overhead-- Not hugely scalableESB-- Highly scalable-- Simplicity-- Minimal overhead
  • Cloud has introduced a whole new paradigm-- Huge scale-- Social networks-- Big Data-- Access from EverywhereThink “global”
  • How and when to “move to the cloud” is the wrong way to look at it. Microsoft’s strategy with the cloud is to bring computing resources to your enterprise to extend your capabilities.
  • Two major ways to bring cloud compute to your enterprise: First is at the infrastructure level: Virtual network, WA AD System Center Cloud backup for SQL ServerWindows Serveretc.
  • Another key way to use the cloud is though integration. Windows Azure provides a great environment for running web apps and public facing services. Also a great “DMZ” for connecting with partners.
  • Integration plays a key role. Here are the main scenarios we hear from customers:Connect:-- Integrate with cloud applications or external partnersRun:-- Fast provision of a test environment, or just scaling outBuild:-- Use the cloud as a managed integration platform in itself
