  • 1. By Deb Sturgess Communication Consultant Free-Wheeling Ideas That Practically Think of Themselves
  • 2. Is your thinking here?
  • 3. Try riding on a Wheel! Not this kind!
  • 4. Don’t place your bets here, either. Bad idea.
  • 5. Try the Google Wonder Wheel to turn your thinking around. It’s fun – ideas practically think of themselves!
  • 6. To spin the Wonder Wheel, start with a Google search. Search as usual.
  • 7. Look under “More search tools.” Click More search tools in the left column.
  • 8. You’re almost there! Click on Wonder wheel .
  • 9. The Google Wonder Wheel! The Wonder Wheel appears with several spokes extending from your search term. Search results appear on the right.
  • 10. Which idea spoke interests you? Click on one of the idea spokes and a new wheel appears. Notice that the idea you chose is now the search term. Results on the right change, too.
  • 11. Follow ideas that intrigue you. Choose one of the new idea spokes. The wheel and search results will change.
  • 12. Keep following your interests. You can always backtrack through the Wonder Wheels by clicking on past wheels (even if you can’t read them any more). You can also use the back button on your browser.
  • 13. You can go back & explore another idea any time. Backtrack to an earlier Wonder Wheel and click on a different idea spoke. The wheel and search results will change.
  • 14. Keep spinning your wheels! Who knows where the wonderful wheel will take you?
  • 15. You could search for one thing . . . . . . like Sandy Grason. You may find a fabulous little black dress!
  • 16. Follow different idea spokes from the same search term Sandy Grason . What would Sandy’s virtual cocktail parties be without the cocktails?
  • 17. Aha! Even better!
  • 18. A word of warning . . . Follow the spoke to drinking games, and you may end up with a completely different party!
  • 19. What captures your imagination? Personally, I want to explore “ porcupine tree building an empire.”
  • 20. You don’t need Google Maps to find your way out of dead end thinking.
  • 21. Spin the wonder-full wheel. What ideas will you find as you go thought free-wheeling?
