    • Kennedy also sends Military Advisors (Green Berets)

    • 1963-64 North Vietnam sends troops to the south to win control
    • LBJ is worried communist will win
    • By 1964 ¾ of the country under the control of the Viet Cong

    • America destroyer on electronic intelligence mission in Gulf of Tonkin
    • The ship is attacked by three NVA boats
    • Gulf of Tonkin Resolution gave the President the power to take all necessary military action against North Vietnam
