Baghdad <ul><li>Baghdad is the capital of Iraq and the center of air, road, and rail transport in the country. </li></ul><ul><li>As the leading manufacturing city of Iraq, The city has numerous oil refineries, food-processing plants, tanneries, and textile mills. </li></ul><ul><li>The city extends along both banks of the Tigris. </li></ul>
  3. 4. Mosul <ul><li>The city of Mosul is predominantly Kurdish but has a substantial non-Kurdish minority. </li></ul><ul><li>This minority consists of Iraqis sympathetic to the Saddam Hussein regime. </li></ul><ul><li>Below is a picture of Mosul’s location of Iraq’s Army headquarters </li></ul>
  4. 5. Kirkuk <ul><li>Kirkuk is located in northern Iraq, about 250 kilometers north of the capital of Baghdad near the foot of the Zagros Mountains. </li></ul><ul><li>The city is built by the Hasa river on an area with archaeological remains over 5000 years old. </li></ul>
  5. 6. Dahuk <ul><li>Saddam Hussein's summer palace is near Dahuk. </li></ul><ul><li>Most of its land is mountainous; it is famous for a rainy and snowy winter and hot summer. </li></ul>
  6. 7. Tikrit <ul><li>Tikrit is 100 miles northwest of Baghdad on the Tigris. </li></ul><ul><li>Iraqi Army of 40,000 require basing facilities at 18 locations. Military Bases will be built Tikrit. </li></ul>
  7. 8. Daquq <ul><li>Daquq is located south of Kirkuk. </li></ul><ul><li>Iraqi Soldiers meet in Daquq and conduct raids and plain attacks. </li></ul>
  8. 9. Basrah <ul><li>Population=1.3 million people </li></ul><ul><li>Basra is the third largest city in Iraq. </li></ul><ul><li>Basra was home to significant Iraqi nationalist opposition to Ottoman rule. </li></ul>
  9. 10. Kut <ul><li>Is in southern Iraq, on the banks of the river Tigris. </li></ul><ul><li>It is a port and a market center for grains, fruits, and vegetables. </li></ul><ul><li>Hospital-> </li></ul>
