EssenceEnMS is a set of systems and processes toimprove energy performance of enterprises ArchitectureEnMS is Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDAC) framework,as for all ISO standards, providing a systematicapproach for enterprises to set & achieve targetsand plans for energy performance improvement
Set of interrelated or interacting elements to establish an energy policy and energy objectives, and processes and procedures to achieve those objectives. Purpose of ISO-50001 is to enable organizations to establish the systems and processes necessary to improve energy performance, including energy efficiency, use and consumption.Note: ISO-50001does not lay down minimum absoluteperformance but leaves with the organization to decide. Itstresses on management of continual improvement.

Engage an EnMS consultant with defined and scalable scope of work Decide Boundary and Scope of EnMS Appoint Management Representative (MR) Organize Energy Team Formulate Energy Policy Identify individuals whose activities influence energy use and consumption
Management Representative (MR) can be an existing employee in fairly senior level to handle MR job as additional responsibility. Or he can be a new recruit having requisite competence to handle the job. He can be a full time/part time contract employee with adequate authority over functional areas. Energy Team (ET), to be headed by MR, shall have persons form all functional areas.
Essential Points to be covered in Energy Policy The Business/Industry of the organization The commitment of the top management for continual improvement in EnMS and energy performance Commitment of the organization for specific % improvement in energy consumption over a specified period Commitment of the organization to allocate resources to achieve objectives/targets
Approved Energy Manual can reduce decisionmaking process and help to achieve continualimprovement in energy performance & EnMS.The Energy Manual may include:- Scope & Boundaries of EnMS Energy Team and its functions and authority Energy Policy Guidance on planning process Guidance on training and awareness programs Core Elements of EnMS Key Documents in EnMS Any other procedural matter as necessary
