2. A period of major industrialization took place
during the late 1700s and early 1800s. The
Industrial Revolution, beginning in Great
Britain, quickly spread throughout the world.
This time period saw the mechanization of
agriculture and automobile and a revolution in
power and had a massive effect on
social, cultural and economic conditions.
The industrial revolution began in
Great Britain because there were many new
inventions. The revolution began in England
because the country had the factors of
industrialization, which are land, labour, and
capital. It was due to the sudden population
growth, because Britain's population was very
important at that time.

The real automobile story in UnitedKingdom begins with the experiments
of Richard Trevithick on the steam
engine. In 1801, he crafted one of the
first self-propelled vehicle that could
carry passengers, it had three wheels
and was able to carry nine people. To
share his creation, he drove ten miles
in the London streets and called his
vehicle the “London Steam Carriage”.
In 1803, he presents a new vehicle
which fills with enthusiasm the
London audience, but it is quickly left
behind because it was way too
expensive compared to the horse
carriage. In 1804 he crafts a steampropelled locomotive which can carry
ten tons of ore and five carts of
seventy men on fifteen kilometer and
at the speed of eight kilometer per
hour.
Beginning
How to explain this unbelievable car
development would you ask? It is
due, amongst other things, to the
first industrial revolution, which took
place in the United Kingdom at the
end of the 18th century. This
revolution brought many technical
improvements such as the steam
engine; which had a significant
importance on the expansion of the
automobile, and also the use of coal
as fuel; used to run steam-propelled
engines and to melt iron ore. These
changes permitted the textile and
metallurgic production to be more
efficient and reduced the costs of the
materials used.
From 1870-1880, new major changes
started to disrupt the economy; it
was the second industrial revolution.
It was including two new energy
sources; the oil and the
electricity, along with the beginnings
of the gas engine. If there was to be a
period of birth of the automobile, it
has to be this one.
Unbelievable car development

way we live; thanks to it, heaps of
jobs were created and our new

the most important invention in the

The automobile revolution had a significant impact on the society
during this period and also nowadays. This effect really begins
in the beginning of the 20th century. In fact it causes negative
impact as unforeseen and undesirable consequences, such as
traffic congestion, air pollution, and highway accidents.
While the automobile industry was raising and thriving, there still wasn’t a
lot of equipment which would ensure the safety of the pedestrians and
the drivers. The cars were noisy and the combustion of the fuel emitted a
smelly scent, and so some people were so annoyed by the cars that they
would throw rocks and muck at cars.
Laws were even established to forbid the use of cars inside town centers.
There also were quarrels between the religion and the technical
evolution; in fact, some religious people considered the car more as the
devil than as a practical tool.
All these disturbing events led to the appearance of the speed limitations.
From this time, many improvements to the road safety have been made
but there are still a lot of deadly incidents occurring everywhere around
the world, continuing the controversy on the automobile subject.
