Procedure

 Sedatives are administered to make the patient feel comfortable and relaxed.
 If the endoscope (a specialized and flexible tube with a camera attached at the
end) is to be inserted through the mouth, a mild sedative is sprayed inside the
mouth to prevent gagging.
 Conversely, a few small incisions are made in the surgical area through which
the endoscope and various surgical instruments are inserted.
 An external feed (monitor) allows the surgeon to view the entire procedure.
