Leucorrhoea or whites is a condition in which there is an excessive whitish or colourless secretion from the vagina. Most of the time, it is an exaggeration of the normal (physiological) secretion. Sometimes the cause is the irritation anywhere in the genital organs, due to the common infections of the genital tract (pathological).

Facts about Vaginal Discharge     Most of the time, vaginal discharge is perfectly normal It is the body’s natural way of cleansing, lubrication, and guarding the vagina against infections It’s color can range from clear to a milky white Depending on the time in your menstrual cycle amount , odor and color can vary
  4. 4. Vaginal Discharge- facts There will be more discharge  If you are ovulating  Breastfeeding  Sexually aroused The smell may be different –  If you are pregnant  Due to poor personal hygiene

When it is Abnormal?      If the color, smell, or consistency seems significantly unusual Vaginal itching or burning, redness, rash and swelling of the vagina and the vulva Pain while passing urine Pain during sex A thick, white vaginal discharge that looks like cottage cheese / curd with a bad smell
  6. 6. What causes abnormal discharge?  Any change in the vagina's balance of normal bacteria can affect the smell, color, or discharge texture

Some tips to prevent vaginal infections  Keep the vagina clean by washing regularly with a gentle, mild soap and warm water  Never use scented soaps and feminine products or douche; avoid sprays and bubble baths  Always wipe from front to back to prevent bacteria from getting into the vagina and causing an infection  Avoid overly tight clothing , wear 100% cotton undergarments
  8. 8. Some tips to prevent vaginal infections  Change tampons and pads often during your period  Use mild soap / detergents for cleaning under garments  Avoid irritants like Dettol / Savlon for cleaning  Talk frankly with your doctor about any odds

  10. 10. Ayurvedic Remedies – Internal use  Buttermilk + Nagkeshar (Mesua Ferrea) powder for Ferrea 3 Days  Shatavari (Asparagus racemosus) Powder 1Tbsf + Milk ½ cup
  11. 11. Ayurvedic Remedies – Internal use Amla seed paste 1 tsp + ½ tsp sugar + ½ tsp honey twice a day before breakfast and dinner 2. Amla seed paste 1 tsp + 1/2 tsp honey mixed in 1/2 glass of water for 3 days 3. Amla powder or Amla Juice + Honey 1.
  12. 12. Ayurvedic Douching  You can use decoctions made from following herbs for vaginal douching Bark of Banyan tree Bark of Fig tree Triphala ( 3 Myrobalans )
  13. 13. How to Prepare Decoction for Douching How to make decoction:  Boil 1 tablespoon of pounded drug in about 1 liter of water for 5 minutes. Allow it to cool , strain and use it as a vaginal douche  You may add half the quantity of Butter milk to Triphala decoction
  14. 14. Ayurvedic Douching  Ayurvedic Medicated Oils can be used for Local application ( e.g. Bala tail, Narayan taila, Mahanarayan taila, Ropan taila, etc.)  Tampons soaked in above oils can also be placed in vaginal vault overnight
