      • WHAT IS A FLUID ?
      • A substance which moves due to pressure difference between 2 points.
      • It can be liquid or gas.
      • Fluid flow can be steady or nonsteady.
      • It can be rotational or irrotational.

      • It can be compressible or noncompressible.
      • It can be viscous or nonviscous.
      • WHAT IS IDEAL FLUID ?
      • -A steady,noncompressible,irrotational,nonviscous is ideal fluid.
      • WHAT IS LAMINAR FLOW ?
      • The particles move along their own paths which will not cross the paths of other adjacent particles.
      • They move as parallel line to the side of the tube.
      • WHAT IS TURBULENT FLOW ?
      • The paths of particles cross eachother & there is loss of energy.
      • BERNOULLI’S PRINCIPLE :
      • Daniel Bernoulli published relationship of fluid flow in his book HYDRODYNAMICA.
      • According to him higher velocities produce negative pressure by their side.
    • CLINICAL APPLICATIONS
      • 1.DIFFUSER or INJECTOR:
      • A jet of gas or oxygen with high pressure is delivered through a small nozzle.
      • A negative pressure is created by the side of the jet.
      • Ambient air is sucked in.
      • This is called ENTRAINMENT OF AIR.
      • 2.VENTURI METER :
      • - This is used for large volume of fluid flow.
      • 3.VENTURI SUCTION :

      • 4. VENTI MASK :
      • The supply of air will give 24,28,35,40,50,60% of O2.
      • At the rate of 2 lit/min 38 litres of air is entrained giving 24% O2.

      • Mosquito sprayer.
      • Garden sprayer.
      • Bunsen burner.
      • Cooking gas.
      • Blowing the nose to clear the sinuses.
      • Accidents due to fast moving vehicles.
