  • The Hubble telescope, like the astronauts in the Shuttle, certainly seem to defy gravity! A popular misconception is that the telescope does not experience gravity! That it is in a zero gravity field! Clearly, the horizontal velocity of the telescope is sufficiently high that it falls to the ground at the same rate as the Earth’s surface curves away.
