What is Flickr?<br />The leading image hosting website & service<br />Also represents an online community – essentially a social network based upon photo images<br />Originally created by Ludicorp (2004) but acquired by Yahoo! In 2005<br />Last year, they reached 10 billion images and videos and have 10 million active groups<br />

Flickr Accounts: Free and Pro<br />Free account users can upload 300 MB a month but only see the most recent 200 in their photostream<br />No one (even account owner) can access original file<br />With upgrade to pro account, original files are available for download<br />Pro accounts upload an unlimited number of images & videos and receive unlimited bandwidth and storage <br />Photos may be placed in up to 60 group pools<br />Pro account users receive ad-free browsing and have access to account statistics <br />

Organizing Photos with Flickr: Tags <br />A form of metadatawhich enable searchers to find images related to particular topics, such as place names or subject matter <br />Flickr was one of the first services to use the Tag Cloud interface<br />Provides access to images tagged with the most popular keywords<br />
  5. 5. Organizing Photos with Flickr: Organizr <br />The Organizr is used for organizing photos within Flickr<br />Modify tags, descriptions, sets, collections, groups, and geotaging<br />Users can select and apply changes to multiple photos at a time<br />
  6. 6. Organizing Photos with Flickr: Picnik<br />Flickr uses the Picnik online photo-editing application as default photo editor<br />Available as an online Web App<br />
