      • Examples are analyzed as patterns that students can use in their own writing.
      • Why the operation is performed, under what circumstances, etc.
      • What results the user can expect from the operation.
      • Background material on concepts, terminology, and other information relevant to the operation.
Explanations Before an Operating Instruction After the title, you should provide an explanation of the operation. The explanation precedes the operating instructions and lets the user know why he should perform the operation in the first place. Your explanations should be short and to the point. They should contain some, or all, of the following: This can also include previous stages that occur before the operation is performed. Here is an example: Defining Paragraph Characteristics You use the Paragraph dialog box to define paragraph characteristics such as line spacing, space between paragraphs, alignment, indentation, and more. After you select the desired settings and choose OK, Word applies the characteristics to all of the text to the end of the paragraph. The end of the paragraph is indicated by a paragraph symbol that appears when you click the Show/Hide button on the toolbar. Lectures Exercises Feedback
