Why Is Everyone Freaking Out About
Renee Zellweger’s Face?
Renée Zellweger has made headlines recently with the revelation that what appears to
be some plastic surgery that has radically changed her face. Her name became a
trending topic on numerous social media networks and stories about her new face
have been burning up celebrity news networks. But is it really that big a deal? If Renée
is happier with her new look, does everybody else need to freak out about it so much?
The New Face
Why is Renée sporting a new look? There are a number of possible reasons. Some
people who are more sarcastic about the situation claim that it’s some sort of surgery
gone wrong, but any professional plastic surgeon can tell you that there are no signs
of that being true. She has been seen sporting a new look on the set of her new in-production
movie, so maybe this is for a part. Or maybe it’s just because she wants to
look different as she enters a new phase in her life. Now 45, the actress has been seen
as the girl next door thanks to roles such as Bridget Jones Diary. Maybe it’s time for a
personal change for her, and for an actress that often means a physical change as well.
2. In Renee’s Own Words
When asked this week about her new look, Renée Zellweger herself played coy on the
subject. “I’m glad folks think I look different!” she said in an interview with E! Online.
“I’m living a different, happy, more fulfilling life, and I’m thrilled that perhaps it
shows.” Renée hasn’t confirmed or denied any sort of surgery, but maybe the point
here is that it doesn’t matter what work she has done. She herself seems to have
recently found herself more at peace than ever before, and many women view their
physical appearance as a way that they can reflect their inner feelings. When it comes
right down to it, what is more important to a person’s appearance than what they
themselves think of it?
Surgery and Lifestyle Changes
Very often, people choose to pursue cosmetic surgery as a result of major life changes.
Things that change the way you view yourself on a personal level tend to make you
want to look different. The major difference between Renée and the vast majority of
people who opt for surgery is that Renée is in front of cameras as part of her career.
Thus, any sort of change is going to get blown out of proportion. Fans who know
Renée as Bridget Jones or another one of her characters are seeing that iconic look
disappear, and some of them are overreacting to what is really a personal matter.
Ultimately, Renée Zellweger is in a difficult position in that her look has become iconic
over the course of her long acting career. However, if she feels more comfortable with
her new look than she does with her old one, who are we to judge? Ultimately,
cosmetic surgery is about self-esteem and personal preference.
