GENDER-EQUITY ISSUES IN E L E M E N TA RY E D U C AT I O N INTRODUCTION For a long time educators have worked with the assumption that there are subjects that are more appropriate for boys, and subjects that are better for girls. This pre-supposition about gender has caused a disparity in the way boys and girls are taught, and created false boundaries around gender-specific career paths.
