• ADD/ADHD are problems related to brain
development.
• They cause hyperactivity (always moving
around), impulsive behavior (doing things
without any control), and attention
problems.
3. Symptoms
Children with trouble paying attention may:
• Be distracted
• Have difficulty focusing
• Get bored easily
• Struggle with simple directions
• Not listen
• Not process information

Children with hyperactivity may:
• Fidget
• Talk nonstop
• Run around
• Have trouble staying still
• Be constantly in motion
• Have trouble with quiet tasks

Children with impulsive behavior may:
• Be impatient
• Blurt out inappropriate comments
• Interrupt conversations or activities

• Children (school aged) = 3% - 7%
• In 2006, 4.5 million 5 – 17 year old

• Boys are 9.5% more likely to get ADHD
than girls
