Key Achievements <ul><li>Draft pandemic preparedness plan is prepared and submitted to EDCD and AICP for comments and finalization. </li></ul><ul><li>Developed district pandemic preparedness plan in three district ( Parsa, Chitwan & Rupendehi). </li></ul><ul><li>Disseminated messages in local FM in the three districts </li></ul><ul><li>Supported NHEICC to develop IEC materials and disseminated. </li></ul>CARE Nepal

  11. 12. <ul><li>Influenza Pandemic A(H1N1) 2009 prevention campaign in 8 districts: </li></ul><ul><li>- Parbat, Baglung, Gorkha, Bhaktapur, Rautahat, Sindhupalchok,Chitwan,Kailali. </li></ul><ul><li>- IEC distribution </li></ul><ul><li>- Orientation to ~350 volunteers and their mobilisation </li></ul><ul><li>Considering the geographical spread, need to prepare in other districts too. </li></ul><ul><li>Business Continuity Plan (Being drafted) </li></ul><ul><li>Close coordination with Nepal government in order to future response of H1N1 </li></ul>NRCS’s response to current Influenza Pandemic A(H1N1) 2009

Major challenges <ul><li>National priority </li></ul><ul><li>Security situation </li></ul><ul><li>Non pharmaceutical interventions- less focus </li></ul><ul><li>Variation in Project duration of implementing partners-accountability of H2P partners </li></ul><ul><li>Frequent changes of trained human resource both at national and district level </li></ul><ul><li>Involvement of key national level stakeholders in order to address current situation of Pandemic Influenza A(H1N1) in the country. </li></ul><ul><li>Availability of resources </li></ul>

Priorities of present context <ul><li>Conducting trainings in all project districts involving participants from different level and stakeholders </li></ul><ul><li>Organize simulation exercises based on plan. </li></ul><ul><li>Raise awareness on pandemic influenza up to community level. </li></ul><ul><li>Prepare Monitoring and Evaluation framework </li></ul><ul><li>Continue response to H1N1 outbreak based on need </li></ul><ul><li>Advocacy: For the endorsement of the National H2P preparedness and response plan </li></ul><ul><li>Explore,identify and bring together potential partners for the response . </li></ul>
