  • Auteur – what is it? • Use your phones to find out what an Auteur is • You have 10mins to find out as much information • You will all share some information • Can you find quotes?
  • Questions •Who founded the auteur theory? •When was the auteur theory founded? •What is the auteur theory? •Who are some recognisable auteurs? •Are there any quotes referring to the auteur theory?
  • Auteur Theory • Originates in France • Means ‘Author’ director reflects their own vision, style, technique, innovation and creativity • Originally founded by Francois Truffaut • 1950s • “A true film auteur is someone who brings something genuinely personal to his subject instead of producing a tasteful, accurate but lifeless rendering of the original material.” • Director has more creative control • Directors that have their own style and personality • Can you think of any current Auteurs?
