    • INTRODUCTIONS Candidate Open House July 10, 2009 Introducing Doug Breithaupt  Born in Port Angeles, November 12, 1957 – age 51  Lived in Jefferson County with family until 1968, returned in 1986  Currently lives at 43 Bentley Place, Port Townsend, WA 98368 – this is the old Discovery Bay (Uncas) School that was made into the Breithaupt home.  Widowed, four children – Bentley (14), Amelia (10), Sophia (8), Spencer (6)
    • INTRODUCTIONS Candidate Open House July 10, 2009  Since 1987 he has served as President of the nonprofit College Planning Network. Skills include business administration, budget and finance, fundraising, public speaking and community relations.  Education: N. Kitsap High School – 1976, Bellevue Comm. College AA – 1978, Seattle University BA History - 1981  Current board and volunteer activities include: Northwest Dollars for Scholars – Board of Directors (11 years), Washington Scholarship Coalition Advisory Board (4 years), Jefferson County Recreation League basketball coach (4 year),  Political Party: Independent, Obama delegate at 2008 County Convention  Sailboat owner (the same boat) for past 26 years

      • Why is Doug running for Port Commissioner?
      • My grandparents, parents and I have raised our families here since the early 1900's. I hope my children will be able to stay here and enjoy the quality of life that is possible today in Jefferson County. The decisions the Port is about to make can shape our economic future in such a way that the next generation will be able to afford to raise their families here as we have done.
    • Reasons for Running Candidate Open House July 10, 2009 Why is Doug running for Port Commissioner? 2. My life-long passion for nautical history and interest in maritime issues, combined with 23 years as an executive director, make the Port Commission an excellent fit for my interests and skills. Dramatic changes at local and national levels in our political landscape have served as a call to action for many and after 30 years away from elected politics, I feel the need to get involved.
    • Reasons for Running Candidate Open House July 10, 2009 Why is Doug running for Port Commissioner? 3. Recently widowed and with four young children, this is a job I can do that provides fair compensation for the time required. This is a job opportunity that will allow me to continue my current work as President of College Planning Network, provide additional resources for my family and use my skills to engage in work that is focused on an area of personal interest.

      • Electronic connections with voters will be the most efficient and cost effective method in the available time-frame
      • Volunteers will be critical to reach key voter groups
