  3. 3. AEGEE was founded in 1985 in Paris during a conference entitled EGEE that aimed at overcoming the ongoing “Eurosclerosis” The first locals: Paris – Muenchen – Milano – Leiden – London – Madrid Only 6 !!!!!! TODAY THEY ARE 242!!!!!!

AEGEE is: <ul><li>non-profit organization, not linked to any political party or religion </li></ul><ul><li>all activities are based on the voluntary work of its members </li></ul><ul><li>one of the biggest interdisciplinary students’ associations in Europe </li></ul><ul><li>more than 10000 members </li></ul><ul><li>242 locals (Antennae) </li></ul><ul><li>42 European countries </li></ul><ul><li>70000 members since 1985 </li></ul>

Our Structure <ul><li>AEGEE does NOT recognize any national level or national administration </li></ul><ul><li>AEGEE organizational structure is based on: </li></ul><ul><li>LOCAL LEVEL where members from AEGEE branches (the so-called Antennae) directly implement AEGEE’s aims according to the needs of their local community </li></ul><ul><li>EUROPEAN LEVEL giving the common frame and direction for all local activities and providing a platform for international co-operation in multi-cultural teams </li></ul>
