    2. Teaching PLWHIV basic computing @ Intan Life Zone, JB
      • Aims/ Objectives:
      • Expose the participants to computer software (Microsoft Office 2007 and Adobe Photoshop).
      • At the end of the program,
      • Participants know how to use Microsoft Office 2007
      • Participants get to know Adobe Photoshop and its layout
      14 August, 2009 (Friday) 9 – 12 pm, 330 – 530 pm
    3. About the organization
      • NGO under Malaysian AIDS Council (MAC)
      • Focus: Needle exchange program for injecting drug users (IDUs), rehabilitation program and halfway homes for IDUs and people living with HIV (PLW HIV)
    4. Halfway home at Intan Life Zone, Johor Bahru
    5. During the program (Play video)
    6. For the organizers (4-SPK),
      • New idea – using existing expertise based on course major i.e. computer studies to create a service learning project for community
      • External support – having representatives from Intan Life Zone strongly supporting the service learning project by the students
      • New exposure to organizers – interacting with PLW HIV
      • Residents don’t have the basic skills to use computer
      • Lack of facilities needed for training e.g. laptops, extension plugs, LCD projector
      • Short time to train residents
      • Not all residents interested in training and not all understand training content
    7. For the host (Intan Life Zone),
      • Residents have exposure on basic computer skills
      • Residents have interaction with people outside the halfway home
      but Lack of facilities and continuity of training is not achieved
    8. Future recommendations
      • Program should be continued, with consideration to be put in:
      • Basic skills of learner for training session
      • Learning style / level of learner
      • Facilities available for training session
      • Timeline of training
