and learning, with the presence of several monasteries, religious educational
institutions, and centers for Tibetology.

Tashi View Point:
The late king of Sikkim, Tashi Namgyal, has constructed the Tashi
Viewpoint. It is located 4 km away from Gangtok, from where the
visitors can get a perfect view of the opposite hills, besides mount
Kanchenjunga. The viewpoint is made by Tashi Namgyal, the King
of Sikkim.
Ganesh Tok:
This is also a place of worship for the Hindus. Ganesh Tok is located
7 km from Gangtok. The altitude of this spot would be 6,500 m. This
temple is devoted to lord Ganesh. It is so small; it can just
accommodate one person. One must crawl to get into the temple.

4. Orchid sanctuary & Flower Exhibition Center:
In the Flower Show Venue the flower exhibition is held round the year.
There is a larger orchid sanctuary called Orchidarium, off the main road
to Rangpo. Near White Hall, there is a Flower Exhibition Center and
seasonal flowers, bonsai and orchids are a delight to the eyes.

5. How to Reach Gangtok…..
By Rail: The nearest railhead connected to the rest of India is the
station of New Jalpaiguri, a suburb of Siliguri, situated 124 km
away from Gangtok.
By Air: The closest airport is Bagdogra Airport, 16 km from
Siliguri. Gangtok is linked to Bagdogra airport by a daily
helicopter service that operates only once a day and carries four
passengers.
By Road: Gangtok is well connected to Siliguri, Darjeeling and
Kalimpong by the National Highway 31- A. There are regular
Sikkim state transport buses between Gangtok and Siliguri. Private
buses, jeeps and taxis can also be hired from Siliguri and Bagdogra.
