Dolphin CAS– How it Works Typically, ArchiveLink servers are connectors that link enterprise content management (ECM), document management or local storage devices to SAP applications for long-term storage of documents and archived data. These connectors require a server infrastructure outside of the SAP application. Dolphin CAS interface leverages the SAP NetWeaver server’s built-in secure communication capabilities to connect to the AT&T Synaptic Storage as a Service, The AT&T Cloud. This unique approach allows Dolphin to offer a very lean ArchiveLink server architecture that requires no additional infrastructure component and fits right in to the SAP landscape as an SAP ABAP Add-on. “ This direct connection to cloud offers a better implementation than the file system-based cloud connection options, where content is streamed to and from cloud through an intermediate file system,” said Vishal Awasthi, Dolphin’s chief technology officer. “The result is faster performance without using temporary local storage, and byte/offset based access to the archived content to enable data and printlist archiving.” Because the Dolphin ArchiveLink Enabler supports ArchiveLink protocol, all existing applications in the SAP solution that use ArchiveLink can seamlessly use cloud for those operations. Common operations include: Outbound document archiving, e.g. SAP billing output Inbound document archiving (e.g. inbound AP invoices) SAP printlist archiving SAP data archiving DART file archiving KPro based content storage (e.g. SAP DMS, SAPOffice) CAS is provided as a single (external), client independent SAP transport (for SAP NetWeaver 6.40 or higher) or SAR file that can be imported using the SAP Transport Management System (STMS) or SAINT.

Cloud Storage Solution forArchived SAP Data and Document
Cloud Adoption is Inevitable Business leaders will move beyond “try and buy” across the Cloud Stack for 4 reasons1. The cloud has moved from “when” to “how”2. Economies of scale have put the customers in a driver’s seat3. Customers have realized that TCO of software should be a vendor’s problem, and not theirs4. Time to value, ease of use, and good-enough functionality will lead as the primary drivers for adoption
Need for Archiving in SAP • Maximize SAP system performance • Stabilize database/file system growth • Enforce retention and destruction requirements • Faster backups and restores • Access all archived data seamlessly • Consolidate legacy data • Optimize document-driven business processes 4
Cloud Archiving from SAPWhile running applications in the Cloud has beencautiously adopted, use of Cloud Storage forarchived/static content is a low-risk, cost-affective andviable option today.So….. How do you get archived SAP data and documentsto a Cloud?
Dolphin Content Archive Service for Cloud (CAS-C) • Complements an on-premise archive storage by adding cloud as a transparent tier to SAP archiving strategy • Zero-footprint solution plugs right into SAP – no new “box” (real or virtual) is needed • Implementation time is typically in hours or days not weeks - just a transport and some configuration • First SAP partner to get both NetWeaver and ArchiveLink certification for an Archiving Service built for cloud from ground-up
