Since the anal region has relatively less blood
supply, the exercise of pelvic muscles viz. anal
contraction and relaxation is likely to improve
blood supply and health of the pelvic region.
This exercise is also called ASHVINI MUDRA.
To prevent or heal Ano-rectal and genito-
urinary problems such as piles, fistula, anal
fissure, proctalgia fugux (a very painful
condition of anal region) one can try
However this does not prove that the exercise
of anal contractions alone can prevent or cure
You have to concede the importance of other
measures such as drinking adequate water,
including fiber in diet, moderation in life style,
regular exercise and surgery when other
conservative measures fail.
But the benefits of this simple, inexpensive and
safe measure of anal contractions for about
five minutes every day have to be studied, and
tried in terms of preventing or treating ano-
rectal and genitourinary problems.
