  3. 3. How does it all Work?<br />What you see under a black light glowing is phosphors. Light is generated by passing electricity through a tube with inert gas and a small amount of mercury.<br />Mercury atoms emit energy in forms of light. UV light is invisible to the human eye so to be able to see the light that is being emitted the outer tube is coated with a phosphor coating.<br />
  4. 4. Different Colors of Black Light<br />The color of a Black light is determined by what type of phosphor coating is on it.<br /> Anything Containing phosphors will glow under these lights.<br />
