  • The imageRUNNER ADVANCE will feature a more tightly integrated workplace, with strong features such a a new mailbox, called Advanced Box, and a new desktop application, called imageRUNNER Advance Desktop. Also we will have several connectors for DMS utilizing the Workflow Composer feature. The goal is to help shorten the distance between the user and the MFP – resulting in a seamless workflow. It’s almost like having the device at your fingertips. The new solutions will help to add value to document management and collaboration shared amongst users and teams. The Advanced Box on the device is more tightly integrated with the pc, other iR devices, and 3 rd party vendor applications. And, the new desktop application seamlessly integrates into a user workflow by easily performing tasks such as searching, annotating, and publishing. Integrated with the new UI under Quick Menu, Workflow Composer is designed to support Connector I/F for seamless workflow integration to new external system/destinations.
  • This is broad workflow of the various security features and major categories of security surrounding the imageRUNNER ADVANCE systems. Canon introduces new security related features to improve device security, data protection, and information integrity. These new features include, Document Scan Lock, Adobe LiveCycle Rights Management ES, Trusted Platform Module (TPM), Function Level Log-in an so on. Each feature offers distinct and beneficial features for security.
  • The standard Access Management System allows system administrators to restrict various features of copy, print, fax, scan, Mail Box, and send functions of each user can use. For instance, send functions can be restricted to help reduce the risk of confidential information leaks, or restrict users to only allow two-sided printing of multiple-page documents to help reduce paper waste. AMS can be set at device level or by functional level. When set at device level, authentication required to access the Main Menu (as shown in the above diagram. If set at function level, authentication is required for restricted features only. Users will be able to freely access unrestricted features without having to authenticate. For example, if a basic function such as the Copy function is not restricted and AMS is set at functional level, users can just walk-up to access this function instead of having to authenticate each time.
  • With the function level login there is a new advantage to authenticating users to the functions that they are permitted to use. You can now authenticate specific features only, such as send, fax or copy to users. There is no longer a need for entering a user ID and password for functions that are not restricted.
  • When the Remote Fax Kit is added to an imageRUNNER ADVANCE model, that model can leverage the fax function of another device on the network that has a fax board. The device on the network that contains a fax board acts as a Remote Fax Service device, and the device with the Remote Fax Kit installed acts as the Remote Fax Client device. Users can fax documents from a Remote Fax Client device through the use of a Remote Fax Server device on the same network. To receive fax documents on the Remote Fax Client device, users must specify the settings on the Remote Fax Server device so that the received fax is forwarded to the Remote Fax Client device as an I-Fax. To specify a destination from a Remote Fax Client device, you can search for the destination in the Address Book of a Remote Fax Server device using the Remote Address Book feature. This feature can help reduce the cost of purchasing and maintaining multiple fax boards/lines and provides for more flexible workflow with the ability to fax from multiple locations throughout an enterprise. The number of Remote Fax Client devices that can be connected to a Remote Fax Server device is not restricted. However, only one Remote Fax Server device can be registered for each Remote Fax Client device. You must make the appropriate settings in Additional Functions to specify the Remote Fax Client and Remote Fax Server devices. A fax board cannot be installed on a Remote Fax Client device. To receive a fax that the server device received on the client device, you must specify the settings on the server device so that the received fax is forwarded to the client device as an I-Fax. You can select the line to use for sending remote fax on the server device when there are multiple lines. A fax board cannot be installed on a Remote Fax client device.

    • Now standard on all imageRUNNER ADVANCE models
    Description
    • Assign function-based access restrictions to users and user groups
    Notes Benefits
    • Helps to prevent unauthorized access and distribution of confidential documents by restricting features, such as the send function and use of address book
    • Helps reduce the operating costs by allowing users to authenticate by function
    • Integrates with Active Directory for more flexibility with different environments
A maximum of 1,000 users can be registered. The Access Management System allows users to restrict printing functions. SSO Log-In Screen Unusable functions are lightly displayed and cannot be selected Only the usable functions can be selected
  • Function Level Log-in
    • User authentication is required only when you select a specific function of the device
    • The Function-level Log-in requires SSO-H v2.0 and the Access Management Systems to be activated.
    Description Note
    • Restricting specific functions only to authorized users
    Notes Benefits
    • No need to enter User ID and Password for authentication for the functions that are not restricted
When you press a function key that is restricted, the Login screen is displayed. When [Log In] is pressed after entering a user name and password, user authentication is performed, and the function screen is displayed, only if the user is allowed to use the function.
  • Remote Fax
    • Enables the device to share the Fax function of another imageRUNNER ADVANCE Series device on the same network
    • Send/Receive Fax documents from a device with the Remote Fax Kit via the device with the Fax board
    • The number of client devices that can be connected to a server device is not restricted
    • One server device can be registered for each Remote Fax client device
    • You must make the appropriate settings in Additional Functions to specify the Remote Fax Client and Remote Fax Server devices. To receive a fax that the server device received on the client device, you must specify the settings on the server machine so that the received fax is forwarded to the client device as an I-Fax. You can select the line to use for sending remote fax on the server device when there are multiple lines. A fax board cannot be installed on a Remote Fax client device.
Description Note Send/receive faxes from a device without a fax board via another device with a fax board Notes Benefits
    • Reduces cost of purchasing/maintaining multiple fax devices/fax boards/fax lines
    • Gives flexibility to environments with fixed fax line positions to be able to fax from multiple locations
    • Improves workflow from allowing users to send faxes from multiple locations rather than one central location
