Dennis McGeehanmcgeehand@rowan.eduDennis McGeehan has taught undergraduate and graduate Business, Communications,Humanities, Education and Public Administration courses for various institutions.Locally he has taught for Temple, and LaSalle Universities, Community College ofPhiladelphia and Delaware County Community College. He has served as an academicadministrator in higher education, continues to teach for Strayer and Rowan Universitiesand contributes as a business discipline reviewer for the Multimedia EducationalResource for Learning and Online Teaching (MERLOT) partnership.He transitioned to higher education upon early retirement from a career in industry andgovernment which included operations, contract and logistic management responsibilitiesfor General Dynamics and the Defense Logistics Agency. Projects assigned during hisindustry career involved the M60 through M1A1-3 battle tank series, the HubbleTelescope Repair Mission and the Steamtown National Park Service Historic Site. Healso developed an early government/industry TQM program for General Dynamics andthe Defense Logistics Agency with semi-annual meetings in Pennsylvania, Maryland andNew Mexico involving the US Department of Defense, Department of the Interior,Department of Energy and National Aeronautics and Space Administration contractorsand government representatives.Professor McGeehan has completed studies with Shenandoah University of Virginiawhere he received an MBA and a graduate certificate in Public Management (MSCHEand AACSB accredited) and Shippensburg University of Pennsylvania (MSCHE)accredited) where he received a BA in English and continued with graduate studies inEnglish. He has been granted professional certifications by the Institute of CertifiedProfessional Managers, the National Management Association and the National PropertyManagement Association where he also serves as a consulting fellow. He is currently atall but dissertation (abd, 64 cr.hrs.) status and completing doctoral studies with RowanUniversity of New Jersey in Educational Leadership (MSCHE and NCATE accredited).During his career he has also acted in advisory capacities to various organizations,including as an advisor to the National Management Association ProfessionalDevelopment Program; a member of NASA Headquarters Procurement ProcessImprovement Action Team; a consultant to the Pennsylvania Senate Minority Leader forindustrial redevelopment; and a committee member for the Philadelphia College of ArtACT 101 English Program. He has served as multiple terms as president of the NationalProperty Management Association for the Northern Virginia and Delaware Valleychapters as well as its Eastern Region Editor. He also served as vice president ofprofessional development for the General Dynamics Land Systems Division NationalManagement Association chapter and a chair for the Northern Virginia InternationalTrade Association speakers’ committee. He has been a regional and national seminarspeaker for various professional associations.
Commendations received include General Dynamics’ Management Effectiveness Award,Defense Logistics Agency and the National Park Service commendations as well as a USHUD Horizons on Display award for urban industrial renovation programs in his earlypublic management career in Philadelphia. An avid 19thcentury Gilded Age researcher,he participates in the Schuylkill and Bucks County as well as the Mauch Chunk (JimThorpe, PA) historical societies. An automotive enthusiast and performance carcollector, he is member of the Porsche Club of America and the American CamaroAssociation. With his cousin, Pete, he has organized an annual summer McGeehan clanreunion in Schuylkill County of northeast Pennsylvania for the past decade.
