Who Are We? PeacePlayers!
MISSION:
PeacePlayers International (PPI) is an innovative global organization that uses sport to unite and educate young people in divided communities.
Using the game of basketball to unite and educate children….in YOUR community!
What Are We? Family!
PeacePlayers International was founded on the premise that
children who play together can learn to live together .
PeacePlayers International currently operates programs in: The Middle East Northern Ireland South Africa Cyprus New Orleans
Why Are We Here? To Help Each Other! Over the past six years, the organization has worked with over 45,000 children . PeacePlayers International is led by a global network of youth leaders who work together as coaches, mentors and facilitators.
“ Basketball is a game where all five players need to share the ball...if it is played with great teamwork, the sum of the parts is greater than the individual. It’s a great forum for building trust . A lot of the game happens with things you can’t see. Communication and trust with teammates is the key. It seems to me that the same can be said of peace making .” - RC Buford, General Manager of NBA Champion San Antonio Spurs, from “Hoops and Harmony: How PeacePlayers is changing the Middle East” ESPN.com article
