AP Calculus Slides October 26, 2007 - Presentation Transcript

    1. At 12:00 noon, with the caution flag up, a driver in a speed car race is traveling at a constant speed of 45 mph. After 15 minutes, the yellow flag is lowered and the car speeds up, reaching a speed of 110 mph after 5 minutes. The driver then maintains that speed until the car crosses the finish line 20 minutes later. (a) Sketch a graph showing the velocity of the car as a function of time. (c) Represent your lower and upper estimates geometrically on your velocity graph. (b) Find lower and upper estimates for the distance the car travels during this time.
    2. Here is the graph of a function ƒ on the domain [a, b]. In the figure, clearly identify the given geometric object/quantity. (a) (b) (c)
    3. Here is the graph of a function ƒ on the domain [a, b]. In the figure, clearly identify the given geometric object/quantity. (a) (b) (c)
    4. Draw a graph of on the interval -1 ≤ x ≤ 5. Determine as an algebraic sum of signed areas. e re s h w a Van
