Then the cloud settled down in the wilderness of Paran.

  • Exodus 33:1, go up from here =aliya • Exodus 33:1 God said to Moses, "Go, ascend from here, you and the people whom you brought up from Egypt… • Moving to Israel is an amazing thing, and it actually has its own special word in Hebrew called aliya." But what does this word actually mean? It is a form of the word la-ah-LOTE, which means "to ascend." The connection is quite obvious, because when one leaves a foreign country to come to the Holy Land, he experiences a true ascent in his life. It is a move that elevates the person on all levels, and its merit is exponential! • Rabbi Tuly Weisz, RabbiTuly@Israel365.com

  • Exodus 33:1 Where're We Goin’ Lord • Ex 33:1 …the land of which I swore… 'To your descendants… • Deuteronomy 7:1 "When the LORD your God brings you into the land where you are entering to possess it…the Hittites and the Girgashites and the Amorites and the Canaanites and the Perizzites and the Hivites and the Jebusites… 9 …the LORD your God, He is God, the faithful God, who keeps His covenant… • Genesis 15:18 On that day the LORD made a covenant with Abram, saying, "To your descendants I have given this land, From the river of Egypt as far as the great river, the river Euphrates: 19 the Kenite and the Kenizzite and the Kadmonite 20 and the Hittite and the Perizzite and the Rephaim 21 and the Amorite and the Canaanite and the Girgashite and the Jebusite."
  • Jerusalem – City Of God, by Jerick Schultz • Exodus 33:2 "I will send an angel before you and I will drive out the…and the Jebusite. • Joshua 15:8 Then the border went up the valley of Ben-hinnom to the slope of the Jebusite on the south (that is, Jerusalem)… • Make no mistake about who owns Jerusalem • God gave it to the Jews! • So let’s look at Jerusalem a little…
  • Exodus 33:3-23
  • Exodus 33:7, The Tent Of Meeting • Exodus 33:7 Now Moses used to take the tent and pitch it outside the camp, a good distance from the camp, and he called it the tent of meeting. And everyone who sought the LORD would go out to the tent of meeting which was outside the camp. • Where was the place of judgment? • Outside the camp! • Where was Jesus crucified? Outside the camp!
  • Exodus 33:11, Close Friends • Proverbs 27:9. . . a man's counsel is sweet to his friend. • Proverbs 17:17 A friend loves at all times, And a brother is born for adversity. • Jesus had an inner circle of close friends. Three of His twelve disciples "Peter and James and John” went up on a high mountain at the transfiguration by themselves (Matthew 17:1), were at the raising of Jarius' daughter, • Mark 5:37 And He allowed no one to accompany Him, except Peter and James and John the brother of James. • And in Gethsemane, Mark 14:33 And He took with Him Peter and James and John…
  • Exodus 33:11 vs 20, The Trinity • Exodus 33:11 Thus the LORD used to speak to Moses face to face, just as a man speaks to his friend. When Moses returned to the camp, his servant Joshua, the son of Nun, a young man, would not depart from the tent. • Exodus 33:20 But He said, "You cannot see My face, for no man can see Me and live!” • Either the LORD is lying, a split personality, or the doctrine of the trinity is true.
  • Exodus 33:19, The Trinity “I proclaim the name of the LORD” • Exodus 33:19 And He said, "I Myself will make all My goodness pass before you, and will proclaim the name of the LORD before you… • Deuteronomy 32:1 "Give ear, O heavens, and let me speak; And let the earth hear the words of my mouth. 2 "Let my teaching drop as the rain, My speech distill as the dew, As the droplets on the fresh grass And as the showers on the herb. 3 "For I proclaim the name of the LORD; Ascribe greatness to our God! 4 "The Rock! His work is perfect, For all His ways are just; A God of faithfulness and without injustice, Righteous and upright is He. • 1 Corinthians 10:4 and all drank the same spiritual drink, for they were drinking from a spiritual rock which followed them; and the rock was Christ.
  • Jesus, The Trinity • John 10:30 "I and the Father are one.“ • John 14:9 Jesus said to him, "Have I been so long with you, and yet you have not come to know Me, Philip? He who has seen Me has seen the Father; how can you say, 'Show us the Father '? • John 20:29 Jesus said to him, "Because you have seen Me, have you believed? Blessed are they who did not see, and yet believed.“ • John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. • John 1:14 And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we saw His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father…
  • Ex 33:20, No One Has Seen God • Exodus 33:20…no man can see Me and live!“ • John 1:18 No one has seen God at any time; the only begotten God who is in the bosom of the Father, He has explained Him. • Exodus 24:9 Then Moses…and seventy of the elders of Israel, 10 …saw the God of Israel…11 Yet He did not stretch out His hand…the sons of Israel; and they saw God, and they ate and drank. • John 10:30 "I and the Father are one.“ • John 14:9 Jesus said…He who has seen Me has seen the Father… • 1 John 3:2 Beloved, now we are children of God, and it has not appeared as yet what we will be. We know that when He appears, we will be like Him, because we will see Him just as He is.

  • Exodus 34:28, Who Wrote the Ten Commandments? • Exodus 34:28 So he was there with the LORD forty days and forty nights; he did not eat bread or drink water. And he wrote on the tablets the words of the covenant, the Ten Commandments. • This is difficult to translate; • ESV KJV NAS NAU ... he wrote ... • NET CSB ... water. He wrote... • NKJ ...water. And He wrote on the tablets... • YLT ...; and he writeth on the tables the matters of the covenant -- the ten matters. • LXX, I think is saying …..
  • Exodus 34:28, Who Wrote the Ten Commandments? • Exodus 34:28 So he was there with the LORD forty days and forty nights; he did not eat bread or drink water. And he wrote on the tablets the words of the covenant, the Ten Commandments. • LXX, has no “he” the “wrote” is “ἔγραψεν verb indicative aorist active 3rd person singular from γράφω” so the “he” is supplied, it could be “he, she, it.” I wonder if the “And” (kai) could be connecting back to the “40 days.” Sorry, my Heb and Grk grammar is not up to this, so I can’t say. But, my research did find…
  • Exodus 34:28, Who Wrote Em’? • Dr. Radmacher in The Nelson Study Bible page 163 says,
  • Exod 34:27, Write Down These Words • But let’s look at the context, • Exodus 34:27 Then the LORD said to Moses, "Write down these words, for in accordance with these words I have made a covenant with you and with Israel.” • Is God telling him to write what He just spoke or what He will say again, The Ten Commandments • Moses definitely wrote down all the words God had just spoke, and the context of the rest of Scripture credits God writing The 10 on stone.

  • The Shekinah, wikipedia.org • Exodus 33:9 Whenever Moses entered the tent, the pillar of cloud would descend and stand at the entrance of the tent; and the LORD would speak with Moses. • http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shekinah • The original word means the dwelling or settling, and denotes the dwelling or settling of the divine presence of God, especially in the Temple in Jerusalem.
  • Exodus 13:21, What’s This “pillar of cloud/pillar of fire” • Exodus 13:21 The LORD was going before them in a pillar of cloud by day to lead them on the way, and in a pillar of fire by night to give them light, that they might travel by day and by night. • Exo 3:4...God called to him from the midst of the bush and said… • Exodus 14:24 …the LORD looked down on the army of the Egyptians through the pillar of fire and cloud… • Exodus 14:19 The angel of God, who had been going before the camp of Israel, moved and went behind them; and the pillar of cloud moved from before them and stood behind them. • Isaiah 63:8-9… In all their affliction He was afflicted, And the angel of His presence saved them; In His love and in His mercy He redeemed them, And He lifted them and carried them all the days of old.
  • Exodus 13:21, What’s This “pillar of cloud/pillar of fire” • Exodus 13:21 The LORD was going before them … • Exodus 23:20 "Behold, I am going to send an angel before you to guard you along the way and to bring you into the place which I have prepared. 21 "Be on your guard before him and obey his voice; do not be rebellious toward him, for he will not pardon your transgression, since My name is in him. 22 "But if you truly obey his voice and do all that I say, then I will be an enemy to your enemies and an adversary to your adversaries. 23 "For My angel will go before you and bring you in to the land of the Amorites
  • Exodus 13:21, What’s This “pillar of cloud/pillar of fire” • Exodus 13:21 The LORD was going before them … • Exodus 33:10 All the people saw the pillar of cloud standing at the tabernacle door, and all the people rose and worshiped, each man in his tent door. 11 So the LORD spoke to Moses face to face, as a man speaks to his friend.
