  • 2. Grade 6 Outdoor Ed
    • Even numbers of male and female
    • Approximately 153 students in grade 6
      • Equal split between male and female
      • KeeSee School has 15 with one special needs with mobility issues
    • Three intakes:
      • May 28-30
      • May 30 – June 1
      • June 13 to 15
  • 3. Duke of Edinburgh Awards
    • Part of our grade 6 program’s original mandate was to lay the foundation for a senior years outdoor experience!
    • ***Non Competitive ***Four components – with different levels/standards
      • Physical recreation
      • Community Service
      • Skill
      • Adventurous Journey
    • Adventurous Journey for example:
      • Bronze (2 days – 1 night) – Certificate from school or community
      • Silver (3 days – 2 nights) – Lieutenant governor hands it out
      • Gold (4 days – 3 nights) – Governor General or member of the royal family
    • The ideas was to form a group interested staff members in promoting the program in their schools/division to see how we could implement it.
  • 4. SIS On-line Survey
    • Email going out later today to all staff to participate in an on-line survey
    • The more teachers, secretaries and librarians that fill it in the better………..
    • Only for the assessment and reporting not the communication component of the program

  • 5. IPad Project
    • Ipads offer a very unique technology enhancement in classrooms:
      • Teacher controlled and directed
      • Support and application choice by the teacher
      • Add ½ hour to your school day !!!
      • Intuitive and easy to use
      • Writing and reading machines for those who can’t!
        • Free speech to text and text to speech
      • Two k-8 schools if school and tech budget permits
        • Wireless is the issue?
      • Give other schools a chance to visit and make decision on purchasing themselves.

    • Fibre project 3 to 5 years down the road before it could be lit up………
      • Need a temporary solution our Inet contract is up June 2012
      • Managed mesh topology
      • Has to be cost effective for the doppelganger years.

    • All digital content stored in division:
      • Mini-Mac servers for wikis and blogs
      • Web server hosting
    • Inclusive classrooms
    • IITV – What happened to it?
      • Moved around not set-up
      • Conference call capability for our schools
