Drawing with Scissors
For the last ten years of his life, Matisse was ill and worked from his bed or his wheelchair.
He moved from paintings to what he called “drawing with scissors.”
He used shape and color create the compositions.

Designing small models
In 1949, Matisse was asked to plan the stained glass, tile murals, and chasuble robes for the Vence Chapel in Nice, a city in Southern France.
