  • nor ways to prevent and stop genocide from happening
  • in 1948, the United Nations established genocide as an international crime , and all nations should “undertake to prevent and punish”
  • so why does genocide still occur in our world?

  • there are many different ways individuals can take action to prevent genocide raise money take action community involvement education promote awareness provide opportunities get involved volunteer prevention awareness provide resources promote awareness promote awareness community involvement take action education raise money get involved volunteer volunteer
  • for example…
  • these people started a fundraiser selling donuts to help Darfur refugees
  • these people started an educational program in their community teaching about genocide and global activism
  • and these students collected spare change at their school that was sent to help victims of genocide
  • do you still think it is impossible for ONE person to make a difference?
  • one more example…
  • in 2005, three high school students wanted to do something to help refugees in Darfur, Sudan
  • they began raising money in order to provide aid to refugees like this woman
  • to date, they have raised over $400,000 dollars this money is used by important organizations such as Doctors Without Borders
  • they also started their own website, Help Darfur Now
